On January 8, 2025, the Ministry of Health of Costa Rica announced the “Administrative provisions regarding the renewal procedures for medicines and biomedical equipment and materials on the Regístrelo platform.”
This announcement is particularly relevant to the industry, given the time required for health registration approvals throughout 2024.
In the statement, the Ministry reported:
“An analysis of the current status of renewal request procedures for health-related products was conducted, determining that as of this date, the products experiencing the most significant delays in meeting the deadlines established by regulations are medicines and biomedical equipment and materials. The total number of pending procedures for these health-related products is 10,007.”
As a result:
“The validity of health registrations for medicines and biomedical equipment and materials expiring between January 1 and March 1, 2025, is extended for six months.”
